In the first edition of the WEEKLY DEVOTIONS we talked about, "PRAYER". Keep on praying, this world is in great need of it.
In the second edition of the WEEKLY DEVOTIONS let us look at "WISDOM."
At Gibeon, the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you." Solomon answered…"Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties… So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?"
The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, "Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 1 Kings 3:5-12
WISDOM, an ability to discern right from wrong;
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Proverbs 9:10.
Jesus Christ says, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand." Matthew 7:24,26
The book of Proverbs tells us about people who have Wisdom and enjoy its benefits. Read Proverbs 3, 4, 8 and 9 and you will see that a person who has Wisdom is loving and faithful, trusts in the Lord, puts God first, turns away from evil, knows right from wrong, does what is right, hates pride, arrogance and evil behavior and looks at himself before looking at others, listens and learns, possesses knowledge and discretion, loves correction and is teachable, gives good advice and has common sense, respects and fears God, knows God.
Billy Graham in his book, Unto the Hills, has under April 1, as a title, THE FOOL. Then he goes on to state the following Biblical verse; "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." Psalm 14:1 Then further down in his text he says; "When one refuses to believe what God has told him, he will soon enough find out how foolish he has been. Unfortunately, it will be too late, and he will find himself in hell in the company of other fools." Now folks, listen to the Wisdom from God if you want to be saved. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." John 3:16-18
